Summer

"Spring turns to summer,
warm, beautiful summer,
and Sally sees the hay cut
in the fields.
She hears the cowbells
in the green pastures.
She smells wild roses.
She touches fat puppies,
and their fur is soft.
She tastes wild strawberries
warm in the sun."
--Tasha Tudor (1915-2008), First Delights: A Book About the Five Senses

  1. I learned something very close to this recipe in kindergarten--we sprinkled it over sliced apples. It's not complicated, it turns out great, and I have been making it ever since.

  2. This looks yummy, but what caught my eye on this post was the quote from Tasha Tudor, whose work I have always loved. I was sad to read of her death but she packed a lot into her 90+ years.

  3. Mmm, this sounds like a good recipe. I just made cherry crisp tonight using the cherries from our cherry tree. Yummo! It's the first time I've ever managed to pick enough cherries to make something. (Actually Matt picked them & we're lived here 7 years now.)
