The Best-Laid Plans of Mice and Moms

I was waiting to introduce wheat (a family allergen) into Helen's diet when she was nine months old. Helen decided to introduce wheat into her diet today, when she snagged one of her brother's pretzels and ate it all. A prouder, happier baby you have never seen.

  1. Mmmm, pretzels!

My little sister did something of the sort. She was in her walker (oh, half a million years ago) and stole my brother's chicken leg right off of his plate when he had left the table.

She was going to town, but alas, had no teeth. Kids!

  4. Good first choice. I am assuming that she was OK allergywise.

  5. I'm glad she loved it so much! My 2 1/2 year old did that with peanut butter. She got into it accidentally. Freaked me out. Kayla's not allergic to peanuts but I've still been holding off.

  6. Today for lunch, my son wanted pretzels and grapes. Nothing else. (I did convince him to have a little soy yogurt, too.) Food allergy meet food preference. Ugh.
