Feeding Eden Giveaway

Have you heard about Feeding Eden?  It's a new memoir about how a child's food allergies affect the lives of a family.  I'm in the process of reading it, but it's slow going for me--not because it isn't compelling but because it makes me start to tense up and hyperventilate.  Which means this book is an excellent portrayal of what it means to be a food allergy family.  Here is the author, Susan Weissman, talking about the book on YouTube.

I think it's a good read for everyone.  Food allergy parents will relate to it, of course, but more importantly,  I think it is a great chance for others to get into the head of a food allergy parent.

"We parents can't make magic.  We can't transform our children.  But we can heal with our touches, our words, and our love.  We can show them how to take their medicine.  When we do this, our children can save themselves."--Susan Weissman, Feeding Eden

The publisher has agreed to send one copy of Feeding Eden to one commenter from my blog.  Leave a comment by midnight on Sunday, March 11, saying why you'd like to read this book.  I'll announce a winner on Monday, March 12.

Prize Redraw:  Janeen!  You won!  Send me your info!

  6. Looks like a great book. I have a friend that is allergic to almost everything. It would be easier for me to list what she can eat. The poor thing. She is allergic to Tea, coffee, beef, fruit, sugar, corn, nuts, tree nuts, dairy, rice, chocolate. The list goes on. I would love to win this for her. My family has food allergies to, but compared to her, she could use the book better than me. Thank you. Melinda.

  7. This looks very interesting! I am the mom of a beautiful 11 year old girl with a milk allergy. It's been an adventure all the way and hearing other people's stories helps us cope with our own challenges.

  9. I am a mother of three little girls! 5,3 and 3 months. After weeks of no sleeping and nursing a baby that spit up everything She ate a Dr suggested I cut out dairy. She is a different child now! Happy, chubby and a Great sleeper. We have found she also can not tolerate beans and peanuts too. This book would be great to read as I learn more about the "Brynlee diet"!

  10. Hi Sarah,

I have just stumbled upon your blog (from the recommendation in the GoDairyFree book). We just found out 2 weeks ago that our 8 yr old daughter, Ella Rose, is allergic to milk. The word "overwhelmed" does not come close to how we feel..... I look forward to learning more from you!!!
