May Smackdown

Way to leave up a product review for a week. Sorry about that. (But look for several more in the near future. It's review season at No Whey, Mama and Go Dairy Free, apparently.)

I tried to keep blogging through May, which I think rivals December as our busiest month. But May took me down. And since the first week of June is the last week of school, I probably won't do much better. School carnival! School picnic! School summer birthdays party! What other food events can we cram into one week?

To her credit, Principal did call and specifically invite me to the carnival because she is worried about all of the food items that will be present. Of course I was planning to go anyway, but I appreciated the thought.

Since Principal is retiring and the school is urging parents to send in small or no gifts for teachers, I'm going to write a letter addressed to the current and new principals praising Teacher for all of her great work this year in regards to allergies and just in general. I'm going to give teacher a copy of it along with a note from Katherine.

I can hear the roofers starting on my neighbor's house. She's already put up a chain link fence, pulled out three trees, and redone her landscaping. Again. Ah, Spring.

  1. We just went through that with our neighbors. Ugh.

The letter sounds like a great gift for the teacher. I'm sure she will really appreciate it!

  3. I loved both Lisa's and Bart's teachers this year. I think I'll do that letter thing too. Great idea!

Our May was way busier than December. Our kids are still in school until the end of June, which is when all the carnivals, year-end parties, etc. happen. Maybe I'll catch a break in July?

  5. So glad I'm not the only one with the worst neighbors on the block. Diagonally across gets a dumpster delivered at LEAST once every 6 months and tears some part of their house apart. Currently, they knocked down part of their fence, exposing us to their "lovely" back yard and are re-surfacing their in ground pool with some power blaster pump thing. And the guy is a real jerk too, he goes out on the back patio to talk on the phone and through closed windows you can hear him screaming every obscenity in the book.

    Good luck with June! :)

  6. I think the teacher letter is a great idea.

We've got construction on our street. It started in August 2008 and is scheduled to finish this Sept (I can barely type that with a straight face). On the days they show up--including Saturdays--they start at 7am. That's too early to hear a jackhammer.

  7. My neighbour had a field-dressed deer carcass in his backyard for three months this winter, if that makes you feel better. I considered calling the bylaw people, but then I was a little worried because my neighbour had a field-dressed deer carcass, and you know, I didn't want to p*** him off.

  8. The letter is a great idea. And we may have to get our roof patched due to hail damage. Ugh. The whole neighborhood is having to undergo it, it seems.

  10. I love the letter idea. In fact, I had planned to write a letter of appreciation to my son's preschool teacher. Then, I got too busy and at the last minute decided not to rush it. I asked for her mailing address so my son could mail her a picture. I am planning on tucking a letter in with that. I think my letter will mean so much more than the potted flowers I gave her.

I hope the carnival went well!!
