Split Pea Soup
1 16 oz. package of green split peas, rinsed and drained
8 cups water
1 meaty ham bone
1 small onion, chopped
2/3 c. chopped carrots
2/3 c. chopped celery
1 raw potato, peeled and chopped
2 bay leaves
1 teaspoon minced garlic
salt and pepper to taste
Combine all ingredients except salt in a large pot with a lid. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to a simmer; cover and simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until peas are soft, stirring occasionally.
Remove bay leaves and ham bone. Using a stick blender, puree soup
Edit: I'm guessing this is about 12-15 servings? It's enough to serve our family of 6 for two dinners, plus my parents for one meal.
I wondered what you decided to do! So you still have to pay even if you plead not guilty?
ReplyDeleteYes, you have to go ahead and pay either way, plus an extra $7 for court costs. They give your your money back if the court finds in your favor. So I'm throwing away $7 more to further! justice! in my town!
ReplyDeleteThis is very similar to my recipe except I do mine in the crock pot so it smells nice and pea-ish in here all day, and the kids wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole.
ReplyDeleteSounds good!
Good luck at the big trial!!
yayy love your trial decision! I hope it ends up being worth the $7!
ReplyDeleteI read this through twice as "split pea soup my children will NOT eat" and was like hmmmm.. dont' see anything wrong with it? I wonder why they're being picky.. oops.
Yum! We love split pea soup. You need to post a photo so we can pin it :)
